Horsetooth Reservoir Quality Modeling#
Fort Collins Utilities is collaborating with Northern Water, the City of Greeley and the Tri-Districts on a project to develop a hydrodynamic water quality model of Horsetooth Reservoir.
The model will be used to assess various water quality issues including nutrients, algae, dissolved oxygen, thermal stratification, and the influence of Hansen Feeder Canal interflow on the complex flow patterns within the reservoir.

Visual indicators of algal blooms in waterbodies often include: surface scum, foam, floating algae mats, off-colors and/or the presence of dead fish.
Oil and other toxic vehicle fluids end up in puddles where our kids and pets like to play. Don't drip and drive.
