Fort Collins Utilities and Xcel Energy Collaborate to Help Local Businesses with Efficiency

Posted on: Sep-08-2017

Fort Collins Utilities' Efficiency Works Business program and Xcel Energy are working together to offer free, onsite energy efficiency assessments and installation of water-saving equipment for qualifying local small and mid-sized businesses.

This joint effort provides businesses in Fort Collins more opportunities for electricity, natural gas and water savings through packaged offerings. "As a participant in Xcel Energy's Partners in Energy offering, we are joining forces to find innovative ways to leverage programs from both organizations that save customers energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions," said Brian Tholl, Utilities' energy services supervisor.

A door-to-door campaign to small businesses in Fort Collins will begin in September to perform the brief assessments. They will include the installation of water-saving faucet aerators and pre-rinse spray nozzles at no charge.

In addition, assessment advisors will identify opportunities to save electricity, natural gas and water by upgrading lighting, HVAC and water-heating equipment with resources from both Fort Collins Utilities and Xcel Energy. Businesses can then select improvements they want to pursue and work with participating Efficiency Works Business contractors to qualify for cash rebates upon completion of efficiency upgrades.
