Full Road Closure During Water System Improvement Project’s Final Phase

Posted on: Aug-22-2025

Fort Collins Utilities’ Oak Street Water System Improvement Project will begin construction on its final phase beginning the week of Aug. 25. This work will consist of replacing aging water mains to enhance system reliability, improve fire flow capacity, and protect water quality.

Mountain Avenue between Scott and McKinley Avenues will be closed in both directions. Utilities expects the work and road closure to end in late September (weather permitting).

Crews will work from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The active construction zone extends from the Jackson and Mountain Avenues intersection east to Pearl Street. Residents will be able to get to their homes throughout construction, but vehicle access may be limited at times. Pedestrians will still be able to use sidewalks.

The Water System Improvement Project is replacing the water main in preparation for stormwater infrastructure upgrades under the Oak Street Stormwater Improvement Project.
