Utilities Makes Changes to Billing Process
Posted on: Dec-20-2012
Fort Collins Utilities is making a couple changes to its billing process. Changes most noticeable to customers include:• Making the payment due date 20 days after bill date, instead of 25
• Eliminating courtesy reminder notices for past-due balances
The changes will go into effect January 1, 2013, and will improve efficiency, increase sustainability and reduce costs. Eliminating the courtesy reminder notices will save Utilities nearly $40,000 per year in printing and postage costs alone for nearly 20,000 notices and 40,000 envelopes.
Customers will continue to receive a bill and delinquency notification prior to service interruption for non-payment. Also, a benchmarking study showed that Utilities’ current due date is far longer than most utilities.
