Fossil Creek Stream Rehabilitation Project#
Start date: October 1, 2014
Project purpose: Stabilize eroding banks, create sustainable native fish and wildlife habitat and improve water quality in the stream.
To correct erosion and water quality problems, stream banks were flattened and reinforced to prevent further erosion. The rebuilt slopes were replanted with native grasses, plants, and trees to provide new aquatic and riparian habitat for fish and wildlife. The stream channel was relocated in select areas to prevent further movement.
Did You Know?
Shrubs and trees require less water than bluegrass, so it's best to water them separately.
Planting trees on east, southeast, southwest and west exposures reduce solar heat gain and reduce glare through windows.
Pre-heating your home before 5 p.m. in the winter and coasting through the on-peak hours can save money on your utility bill.
