Fort Collins Utilities Observes Public Power Week, October 7-13

Posted on: Oct-03-2018

The safety, quality and reliability of our community’s electricity are top priorities for Fort Collins Utilities’ Light & Power. Public Power Week, October 7-13, provides the opportunity to recognize the many behind-the-scenes employees who work year-round to ensure our electricity remains safe and is available when needed.

Since its establishment in 1935, Light & Power has adapted to changing technology and citizen needs and has progressed beyond industry standards. Reliability levels are remarkably high with electric service available over 99 percent of the time. Today, the utility operates and maintains a nationally recognized, state-of-the-art underground electric distribution system, including over 1,800 miles of electric lines, seven distribution substations and over 11,000 streetlights, with some of the lowest rates in the state.

As the utility progresses, youth and adult education, conservation programs and a variety of efficiency rebates provide awareness and savings opportunities that benefit both the customer and the environment.
