North Lemay Closure, March 10-16, and One-Day Water Outage for Neighborhood Residents

Posted on: Mar-06-2018

On Monday, March 12, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., residents in the Andersonville and Alta Vista neighborhoods will experience a water outage when Fort Collins Utilities replaces water valves at the intersection of North Lemay Avenue and Buckingham Street. This work will increase water quality and reduce outages in the area.

All Andersonville residents and five homes in the Alta Vista neighborhood will have their water shut off for one day. From Saturday, March 10–Friday, March 16, North Lemay Avenue will be closed at Buckingham Street to through traffic. Business access north from Lincoln Avenue and neighborhood access south from Vine Drive will remain open at all times.

When water is turned back on, residents may experience cloudy or discolored water. If this occurs, remove faucet aerators and/or filters and run COLD water until it clears. This water is not harmful, though it may stain laundry. It's also safe to use on plants and landscape. If the water doesn't clear within 20 minutes, wait for half an hour, then try again. Contact Utilities with any questions.

Private development in the area also will close Buckingham Street at the Lemay Avenue intersection west to the development property boundary for one month, Monday, March 5–Friday, April 6. Street improvements as part of the development include widening Lemay Avenue, adding turn lanes on Lemay Avenue and Buckingham Street and stormwater improvements in Buckingham Street. Access to the Buckingham neighborhood and businesses will be open from the south and west. Direct any questions to Roland Tremble, Connell Resources, 970-215-8897 or rtremble@connellresources.com.

Safety is a priority for commuters, residents and workers. Detour routes, barricades and fences will be used to clearly mark areas of excavation and closures.
