Payment Assistance Fund Helps Keep Utility Services On for Residents in Need
Posted on: Dec-14-2017
Shorter days and colder weather lead to higher utility bills, and having the utilities turned off for nonpayment is a reality for many Fort Collins residents. To help, Fort Collins Utilities provides emergency financial assistance through the Payment Assistance Fund (PAF) to customers who have past-due accounts. Often, receiving this assistance means that families and individuals don't have to choose between buying food and having electricity or water.
"It took some stress off my shoulders," said a previous PAF recipient. "I don't like to ask for help, and we were selling what we could, but it was a reality we had to face."
The PAF is supported by customer donations. A partnership with Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) matches donations dollar-for-dollar to provide more households with much-needed assistance. Even with the additional funds, the need continually exceeds the available resources and families are turned away each year.
Help those in need with a one-time or monthly donation to the PAF or by sharing this information with someone in need.
