Pool Closure at EPIC 7/29-9/13

The pool at Edora Pool Ice Center (EPIC) will be closed for replacement of the HVAC system from Monday, July 29-Friday, September 13. The pool will reopen with regular operating hours on Saturday, September 14. The ice rinks are available during construction.

Please consider visiting another recreation facility during this time. All facility hours can be viewed online at fcgov.com/recreation/facililty-hours.

Railroad Work Impacting Northside Aztlan 7/29-8/5

The Willow Street railroad crossing and its immediate vicinity on Willow Street, located west of Northside Aztland Community Center, will be closed for replacement work beginning Monday, July 29. To access Northside Aztlan Community Center during the closure, take Linden Street via Vine Drive or Jefferson Street to reach Willow Street from the east. Work is expected to be completed by Monday, 8/5.

2015-2017 Operational Plan#

The City of Fort Collins Recreation Department chose to initiate its very first operational planning process in January 2014 with the intention of ensuring organizational improvement and effectiveness.

Anecdotal History of the Recreation Department#

The Anecdotal History of Parks and Recreation was compiled and written by Jean Helburg, retired Recreation Director. She was employed by the City of Fort Collins Recreation Department for 38 years and retired in early 2009.

The document linked below will share the rich history of the Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Department. A general chronological history can be found in Chapters 1-5. Chapter 6 is a recounting of a more detailed history of recreation facilities and therapeutic recreation. Separate chapters are included about Logos and Themes (Ch. 7) and Awards and Recognitions (Ch. 8).
