The City of Fort Collins has partnered with CSU’s Center for Public Deliberation (CPD) to host a community-wide conversation about the City’s 2023-2024 budget.
During the event participants will work through budgeting exercises with other community members to learn more about the budget process and the tradeoffs involved in funding community wants and needs with limited resources. Participants will also have the opportunity to weigh in on specific priorities and services being considered for funding in the City’s 2023-2024 budget.
The CPD’s student facilitators will help guide conversations and capture feedback to share with City Council and staff as they finalize the budget this fall.
The forum will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Dr. Spanish translation and interpretation will be available, and dinner will be provided. Registration is required and is available through Sept. 26 at cpd.colostate.edu/events/lets-talk-about-the-budget.
The 2023-2024 City Manager’s Recommended Budget was published and presented to City Council on Sept. 2. Council will now spend the fall reviewing and modifying the budget prior to adoption in November. Community members can review the proposed budget and share feedback at ourcity.fcgov.com/23-24budget.
Residents can also share their thoughts about the Recommended Budget directly with City Council by emailing email@example.com, or attending Council’s budget hearings on Sept. 20 and Oct. 4.
