Night Construction Work and Vine Drive Closure Next Week
- Tim Sellers, Project Manager, 970-221-6605, email@example.com
FORT COLLINS – Construction of the new Lemay Avenue overpass will require the full closure of Vine Drive in the project area for three days next week.
On Monday, Sept. 27, Vine Drive will close around 8 a.m. and will remain closed until around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29. The closure will be from existing Lemay Avenue to Timberline Road. The rest of Vine Drive will remain open.
This closure will allow for concrete girders to be placed over Vine Drive and the BNSF Railroad. The girders are the parts of the bridge structure that will support the new roadway and are a major visible milestone in the bridge’s construction.
Actual placement of the girders will occur overnight on Monday and Tuesday between about 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. The timing of the project is dependent on the track window provided by the railroad.
The impact of the nighttime construction to the surrounding residents will be mitigated by; ensuring construction lighting is limited as much as possible to the construction site, construction equipment and trucks are not left idling when not needed, and general construction noise is being monitored and reduced as much as possible.
Residents and drivers in the area should consider alternate routes during the Vine Drive closure.
The $24 million project is expected to be open to traffic by the end of 2021.
