CIRT Team Investigates Loveland Officer-Involved Shooting

On August 16, 2021 at approximately 6:58 p.m., Loveland Police Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a disturbance in a residence in the 1600 block of Tennessee Street. A Loveland Police officer arrived onscene and contacted the male subject in the backyard of his residence.

Upon contacting the man, the officer found him to be armed with a knife. During the course of the interaction, the police officer fired several shots, striking the man. The man was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies where he is being treated for his injuries. No officers were injured, and there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.

The 8th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) was notified and has responded to take over the investigation. Fort Collins Police Services will be the lead investigating agency. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.
