The City of Fort Collins’ current franchise agreement with Comcast is coming to an end and the City invites residents to share their thoughts on the cable provider.
Whether or not residents are cable subscribers, citizens are invited to take an online questionnaire and share their experiences with cable television. The questionnaire is available at http://www.fcgov.com/cable14/franchise.php.
The current cable television provider, Comcast, has applied for renewal of its franchise. Understanding the community’s needs and interests, as they relate to cable services, is important so that the City can make the best decision for users.
The City has a non-exclusive cable franchise agreement in effect with the local subsidiary of Comcast Corporation. It became effective on March 17, 2006 and expires on March 16, 2015. The City plans to continue to collect information from the community through the remainder of this year and plans to present a summary of its findings to the Council early next year.
The City’s Government Access Channel, Cable 14, is available with all Comcast cable television packages. The cost for cable television service (without internet or telephone services) ranges from $26.70 per month for the basic tier to $142.99 per month for the most comprehensive tier.
