On March 3 around 8:30 a.m., Fort Collins 911 received a report of a serious injury collision near East Harmony Road and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. A 2020 Audi RS3 sedan driven by a 37-year-old man was traveling west on Harmony when the collision occurred with a 71-year-old man on foot who was traveling south across traffic lanes. The pedestrian was mid-block and not in a crosswalk. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the Audi was not injured.

“We’ve seen a concerning number of crashes involving pedestrians,” said Sgt. Mike Avrech, who leads the Traffic Unit. “We do our best to impact behavior, but we need all of our community members to do their part by respecting the rules of the road whether they’re driving, cycling, or traveling on foot.”

The Collision Response and Scene Handling (CRASH) team responded to investigate. Investigators do not suspect impairment or speed as a factor. Westbound Harmony was closed between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and College Avenue for approximately 3.5 hours. Anyone with information, who has not already spoken to police, is asked to contact Officer Ken Koski at 970-416-2229.
