Winter Bicycling Classes

To register for classes, and for full details, visit the City of Fort Collins Recreator. Note: Some users experienced difficulties registering for our education classes. Cycling in Winter: Reference number 409593 | Monday 12/7 6:30–8:00 PM at Northside Aztlan Center. Interested in riding year-round, but not sure how to prepare for the colder season? Learn tips and techniques to help you ride safely, confidently, and comfortably. Topics include what to wear, what to ride, safe winter bike handling, route selection, and winter bike maintenance. 

Sharing the Road with Cyclists: Reference number 109592 | Thursday 2/11 4:30-6:00 PM at Northside Aztlan Center Monday 3/7 4:00–5:30 PM at EPIC Center | Wednesday 3/30 7:00–8:30 PM at Foothills Activity Center. Do you ever wonder how to safely navigate roads when cyclists are present? In this presentation we discuss traffic safety laws and responsibilities for both cyclists and motorists, shared responsibilities, and how to avoid crashes or conflicts.

Everyday Cycling: Reference number 109591 |  Monday 3/7 6:30–8:00 PM at Edora Pool Ice Center | Wednesday 3/30 4:30–6:00 PM at Foothills Activity Center. Whether you are traveling to work, running errands, or traveling to visit friends, you can Go By Bike! Learn the benefits of using a bike for transportation and how to make it possible. Learn what to ride, what to wear, what to carry, how to carry it, route selections, and safety techniques. 

Smart Cycling (formerly TS101): Reference number 409590 Saturday 2/20 8:15 AM–4:30 PM at Westbridge Medical Suites Saturday 3/26 8:15 AM-4:30 PM at Westbridge Medical Suites. This fun course is for beginners, returning, and seasoned cyclists. Gain confidence to ride safely and legally in traffic or on trails. Learn on-bike handling skills, crash avoidance techniques, and how to conduct bicycle safety checks.   

To register for classes, and for full details, visit the City of Fort Collins Recreator online unless otherwise noted. Copy and paste the Reference number associated with each class, and enroll for the date and time you wish to participate.

Mark your calendar for winter bicycling fun all season long. Check out what is going on this year.

Bike Winter Photo Contest | 11/1 thru 1/5. Snap a photo of your first winter ride and submit it to the FC Bikes Bicycle Ambassador Program. Photos are posted on the FC Bikes Facebook page. Then, the photographers who snapped the photos with the most likes will win cool prizes! Photos will be on display at the Bike Winter Celebration on 2/5. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Submit photos to  

Light Up the Night | Monday 12/7 6:00-8:30 PM at Northside Aztlan Center. Did you know that front lights are required on bicycles at night? Are you in need of a light? Stop by one of our “Light Up the Night” events to receive important cycling related information and a free light to keep you riding bright (while supplies last). Fun and free for the entire family!

Winter Bike to Work Day | Wednesday 12/9 7:00–9:30 AM. The 9th annual Winter Bike to Work Day is coming December 9! Similar to the Summer edition, Winter Bike to Work Day - organized by FC Bikes - features stations throughout Fort Collins that provide breakfast, coffee, bike repairs, and fun to reward those who arrive by bike.

Holiday Lights by Bike: Reference number 409598 | Saturday 12/19 6:45-9:00 PM at 281 N. College Ave.  Join the FC Bikes Bicycle Ambassadors for a tour of some of the best holiday lights in the city - by bike! Enjoy hot drinks and treats after the tour. Note: Bike and helmet required. Participants must be able to ride 6 miles round-trip. Great winter riding family fun. Register online at the City of Fort Collins Recreator.

Bike Winter Celebration | Friday 2/5 6:00–9:00 PM at Wolverine Letterpress and Publick House 316 Willow Street. Celebrate year-round cycling! Join us for festivities and to see the Bike Winter Photo Contest exhibit. Bring the entire family for free fun!
