Recycles glass and plastic #1 - #7 bottles and jars, tin and aluminum cans (rinse out), aerosol cans (completely empty), cardboard (flattened), corrugated cardboard, non-corrugated boxes (such as cereal boxes and other chipboard), egg cartons, packing, wrapping/tissue paper, low-grade paper, office paper, already-shredded paper, brown paper bags, junk mail, magazines, soft-bound manuals and books, telephone books, catalogs, non-metallic greeting cards, manilla folders, mailing tubes and more. 

While this site accepts paper that has already been shredded,  PLEASE NOTE - THIS SITE DOES NOT OFFER SHREDDING SERVICES.  Shredded paper is accepted loose in our bins.  No shredded paper in bags.

A new pilot program at the TRC is to collect plastic bags and plastic film in square-shaped bins west of the green recycling bins

VERY IMPORTANT!!! Please place ONLY the following clean and dry materials inside these specially-marked bins:

  • grocery, produce, bread, dry-cleaning, and newspaper bags
  • industrial shrink-wrap, thin-plastic case wrapping (e.g. plastic coverings for bulk paper towels and toilet paper), air pillows and bubble wrap
  • Thin-plastic, or polyethylene, is labeled with a resin identification code as #2 HDPE or #4 LDPE

“Look-alike” plastic-film materials that are NOT accepted include:

  • Pet food bags (woven plastic material)
  • Packaged/fresh produce bag (breathable plastic that’s non-recyclable)
  • Cereal box liner bags (wax-like appearance)
  • Crinkly chips bags

The Hard to Recycle Materials Yard is co-located at the Timberline Recycling Drop-Off Center.

There is a $5 facility use fee for the Yard, and additional fees apply for some recyclables (See website for more details). When only dropping off paint or cardboard, no entry fee is required.  Oil-based, enamel, & Latex paints (interior/exterior) are accepted, as are various other coverings (deck coating, varnish, floor paint, primer, sealer, & stains).

Items Accepted (no additional fees required):

  • Antifreeze (30 gallon limit per visit)
  • Used Motor Oil(30 gallon limit per visit)
  • Batteries (Lithium ion batteries temporarily not accepted; commercially generated batteries are not accepted)
  • Cooking Oil: (25 gallon limit per visit)
  • Scrap Metal: Includes non-refrigeration types of appliances
  • Aggregates: Concrete (no rebar); broken ceramic dishes; toilets and porcelain sinks (without cast iron layer). Must remove all hardware and seats
  • Baling Twine

The Loveland Recycling Center accepts a wide variety of materials, including #1-#7 plastic tubs, waste cooking oil, scrap metals, and other hard to recycle items including hard backed books. Fort Collins residents should expect to pay a fee to drop off yard and wood waste. Electronics (TVs, computers, monitors, etc.) require a small fee. Batteries are free.

Loveland residents must present a current yard debris permit to drop off yard/wood debris.  To obtain a permit, call the Solid Waste Division at 970-962-2529 or stop by the office at 105 W. Fifth St.

Scrap metal dealer. Accepts all major appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, ranges, washers, dryers, microwaves, toaster ovens (remove plastic parts), and hot water heater tanks. Cash for aluminum cans. Accepts helium tanks but does not accept propane tanks or small liquid fuel stove canisters.  Also accepts satellite dishes.

Accepts electronics, appliances, #6 white block foam, plastic bags, bubble wrap, mattresses, yoga mats, cooking oil, bicycles, clean porcelain toilets and sinks, plate glass windows, scrap metal and more for recycling and reuse.  See website for a full list of materials.

There is a $3 facility fee for all vehicles entering the CHaRM to recycle hard-to-recycle materials in addition to fees for specific items.  Fee for appliances with Freon (R) is $15.

Larimer County Recycling Drop-off Center

On the same property as the Larimer County Landfill, located south of Fort Collins on Taft Hill Rd. (about two miles south of Harmony Rd.). 

The Recycling Center at Larimer County Landfill accepts commingled containers, newspaper, magazines, cardboard, office paper and shredded paper, and paperboard. The recycling center accepts already-shredded paper, but does not offer paper shredding services.

Also at the landfill are a Hazardous Waste Drop an e-waste recycling facility, and a recycling facility similar to the City's drop-off recycling site.  Please refer to the Larimer County Hazardous Waste website for hours and items taken.
