Energy Efficiency Focus of Earth Day Fort Collins at Civic Center Park, April 18

Learn how Fort Collins residents can Lose-A-Watt and help the community win a $5 million energy prize at Earth Day Fort Collins, Saturday, April 18, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Civic Center Park.Keynote speaker, John Phelan, Fort Collins Utilities’ Energy Services Manager, will discuss energy efficiency tools and how to get involved in the City of Fort Collins’ Lose-A-Watt campaign. Competing for the Georgetown University Energy Prize will encourage residents to save energy over the next two years. The national competition challenges cities to reduce energy use and help each other with best practices. The $5 million prize would be used toward energy efficiency programs in the community.
As active supporters of Earth Day Fort Collins, the City’s Utilities, Environmental Services and Natural Areas departments will provide interactive and education opportunities for attendees. The event, hosted by the Sustainable Living Association, features information booths and displays, arts and crafts, live music, speakers, local food and a beer garden.
Admission is free and attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items for the Food Bank.
