Appeals to the Building Review Board
Any applicant can request an appearance before the Building Review Board if:
- they do not qualify for a license or certificate under the specific terms outlined under the license descriptions and qualifications sections for a general contractor license or specialized trade contractor license, as determined by the Building and Zoning Director; or
- they desire an exam waiver for a general contractor license or specialized trade contractor license.
Composed of seven citizen-members appointed by City Council, the Board is empowered to grant specific exceptions on a case-by-case basis depending on mitigating factors, i.e., specialized education, experience, or because of a specific hardship.
The Board convenes regularly on the last Thursday of each month, at 1:00 p.m., in City Council Chambers, at 300 LaPorte Avenue. To schedule a hearing, the appellant must submit a completed appeal form to the Building & Zoning department at least one month prior to the scheduled meeting.
There is no fee associated with this type of Board appeal.
