The City of Fort Collins currently has a Friendship City Partnership with San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. In November 2013, San Cristobal hosted a visit from Mayor Weitkunat, Water Production Manager, Lisa Voytko, and Environmental Planner, Daylan Figgs.  San Cristobal is particularly interested in water systems, trail development and forest protection, and economic development practices.
