Please refer to the general reporting page for additional guidance and reporting resources.

2010 Reporting Instructions - Part 2 (Gold / Platinum level requirements)

For Bronze / Silver level requirements, please refer to the first page of the 2010 Reporting Reference Part 1. Remember, all Gold and Platinum level partners are required to complete annual Bronze and Silver requirements, specifically project reporting and meeting attendance to earn or retain your Gold and Platinum level awards.

Instructions for completing requirements for the Gold and Platinum level awards are below. Please note: 1) deadlines; 2) how to report; and 3) the point of contact should you have additional questions. (NOTE: numbers correspond to partner level requirements as listed on your myClimateWise page.)

NOTE: Partners who have received Gold and / or Platinum level awards in the past can assume that one-time requirements have been satisfied. No further action is required for partners in this situation. Contact if you have questions.

Requirement 9. Complete GHG Baseline Tool (ANNUALLY) - Use the ClimateWise GHG Baseline Tool (download from ClimateWise website or from your myClimateWise page) to baseline your business' greenhouse gas emissions and calculate your annual carbon footprint. To enter data into the tool you will need access to the following types of information: utilities records (electricity, natural gas and water); total vehicle miles traveled (VMT) by vehicle (including reported mileage if personal vehicles are used for business) OR total gallons of fuel used by fuel type (e.g., unleaded gasoline, diesel, compressed natural gas or propane, biofuels, etc.); airline trips; estimates of trash generation and recycling volumes.

If your business reports to a GHG registry and is required to submit a baseline or inventory using a different methodology, you most likely will receive credit for this requirement without also having to complete a ClimateWise GHG baseline. Please contact CW staff to discuss whether your business falls into this category. Completed baselines should be submitted via myClimateWise.

Requirement 10. Develop (or evaluate) of greenhouse gas reduction goal (ANNUALLY) - Based on the results of your GHG baseline (see Requirement 10) develop a reduction goal. Reduction goals can be specific or general. They can be measured in the short term or long term. Specific goals might include: reducing airline miles traveled or increasing bike commutes; increasing waste diversion rates, etc. Specific goals can be articulated in terms of GHG reduction, for example: reduce GHG emissions from transportation by 25% in 2010, based on 2008 basline. General goals include those that cover operations in general, for example: reduce GHG emissions by 20% by 2015. Your reduction goal should be expressed quantitatively, either in terms of reduced GHG emissions or specific units (e.g., kwH or gallons of water conserved, reduced miles travel, gallons of fuel conserved, pounds / tons of materials recycled, etc.). We also ask that you briefly articulate a strategy to reach your reduction target. If you are an existing Gold / Platinum partner we ask that you provide a status report on the goal you set in 2008 or earlier. If you have met a prior goal, please develop a new one. Submit goal documentation via myClimateWise.
