We’re #3! And Proud!’s annual ranking of Best Places to Do Business puts Fort Collins third in the nation, a two-spot move upward from last year. The article cites our strong bioscience, agri-tech and clean energy industries, access to Colorado State University research and high quality of life as winning factors. Provo, UT, Raleigh, NC and Fort Collins—all college towns with a young, educated workforce and vibrant, affordable communities—take the top three spots.

The Forbes list evaluated the 200 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S. on factors including costs of living and doing business, projected job growth, educational attainment, crime, recreation, culture and more. Fort Collins ranked No. 66 in cost of doing business, No. 23 in projected job growth and No. 6 in educational attainment. Fort Collins was the highest-ranked Colorado city on the list: Denver ranks No. 5, Boulder No. 27 and Colorado Springs No. 42.

Fort Collins has made the top of the list of Best Places to Do Business for the last several years, coming in fifth in 2011, fourth in 2010, second in 2009 and third in 2008.
