City Sales Tax Update

Sales information reported in the third week of March for February collections.

• Total Sales tax: $4,865,552 a decrease of 4.9% from February 2008. The February collections are $166,489 lower than the amount expected according to the sales tax seasonal patterns.
  In comparison, nationally, collections were down 11%
• Total Use tax: $727,438 a decrease of 20.7% from February 2008. The City is behind budget projections for the month by $165,968 when compared to historical data.
• Residential Building Permits: 7 for new construction, 49 for remodels. February 2008 saw 21 new construction permits pulled and 56 remodel permits pulled.
• Commercial permits pulled: 1 for new construction, 11 for remodels. February 2008 saw 13 new construction permits pulled and 23 remodel permits pulled.
• Net Sales Tax Licenses: 94 issued. In February 2008 88 sales tax licenses were issued.
