MAX Construction Alert: West Drake Road Paving Begins Oct. 28

In preparation for MAX Bus Rapid Transit, West Drake Road from College Avenue to McClelland Drive is scheduled to be repaved as part of the City of Fort Collins 2013 Street Maintenance Program.

Construction will begin Monday, October 28 and will be completed in approximately one week. Working hours for the project will typically be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; however, work may occur outside these times or on weekends as necessary. West Drake Road will be closed in phases according to the plan below; some side streets will also be closed.

Phase 1: Westbound lanes of Drake Road CLOSED from College Avenue to McClelland Drive
• Duration anticipated: 2-3 working days.
• Bay Road CLOSED at Drake Road.
• McClelland Drive closed to westbound turns at Drake Road.

Phase 2: Eastbound lanes of Drake Road CLOSED from McClelland Drive to College Avenue
• Duration anticipated: 2-3 working days.
• Redwing Road CLOSED at Drake Road.
• McClelland Drive CLOSED at Drake Road.

The project schedule is an estimate based on favorable conditions; variances may occur due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Alternate routes are suggested to avoid the construction zones. Detour routes include College Avenue, Horsetooth Road, Prospect Road and Shields Street. The Mason Trail will also be closed at Drake Road throughout the duration of this project. A detour route will be marked, directing trail users to Research Boulevard to safely avoid the work zone.

MAX is on the Way!
Construction of the MAX Bus Rapid Transit system will continue until early 2014, with MAX service beginning in May 2014. MAX will offer passengers efficiency and convenience, with 12 stations and 2 transit centers between Downtown and Harmony Road, service every 10 minutes, and real-time bus arrival information at each station. MAX will connect Downtown Fort Collins, Colorado State University, Midtown and south Fort Collins, providing many new economic redevelopment opportunities near station locations.
