Small Business Corner: The Place Setting Company
Amanda Miller is a Fort Collins small business owner who doesn’t fuss over the details. She thrives on them.
Miller, who owns The Place Setting Company, an event planning and consulting firm, calls herself “Director of Details.”
She recently moved her business to 2120 S. College Ave., Suite 7, in Midtown from Downtown. While Miller loved the Downtown environment, she wanted to be in a spot more convenient to home and some clients.
“I picked the office location based on MAX,” Miller said. “I do love Fort Collins. I love the sense that we’re a small town but we’ve got all the amenities you would ever need – a natural environment, good businesses and responsible leadership.”
Before owning her business, she spent nearly 10 years working with the Fort Colllins Downtown Business Association recruiting members and managing the gift card program and event logistics. In 2012, she was named Young Professional of the Year by the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism from the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University.
“Fort Collins is supportive of small business,” Miller said. “I feel like I’ve been supported by mentors and peers but also by the community at-large.”
