Description

We often associate being alone with negative emotions like loneliness or anxiety. However, the times in life when we are briefly unencumbered by the company of others can be some of the most uplifting, insightful, peaceful, and contented moments we experience. To that end, “Moments” is a mural dedicated to solitude, and the fragility of man against the fortitude and persistence of the natural world. Each side of my mural is a window into one of these special moments of being alone with nature. My hope is for everyone to be able to relate to the images in this mural, and be reminded of the value of solitude, contemplation, and taking a moment to be utterly aware of the entire universe that exists outside yourself and the daily chatter of your own life. In the words of Theodore Seuss Geisel, “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” This mural is a reminder and a call to action to cherish and seek moments of solitude.
