Jury Service Information
The jury system is an integral part of the court process. The opportunity to serve on a jury allows you to become better informed about your courts and the law. If you have never appeared for jury service before, dedicated court staff will walk you through the process upon your arrival. These trials are typically one day in duration and occasionally can go past 5PM. Your service to your community as a juror will be respected and appreciated by defendants, attorneys, judges, court staff and the residents of the City of Fort Collins.
If you have received a juror summons and will be appearing as ordered, please detach, sign, and return the bottom portion of the summons indicating that you are appearing on the date and time of the jury trial. Please call the Court at 970-221-6800 during the hours specified on your summons the day before the trial to confirm that the case is still on the docket. Alternatively, you can email the court at Y291cnRAZmNnb3YuY29t to confirm that the case is still scheduled. Updated information regarding the jury trial status will also be found on Municipal Court’s main webpage.
If you need to request a disqualification or postponement, fill out the appropriate section of your Juror Qualification paperwork and return this to the court as quickly as possible. You may be required to provide written proof of the reason for your request.
On the day of the trial, please check-in 15 -30 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Please bring your completed jury questionnaire with you. If you misplace your questionnaire, we can provide you with a new one. The clerks will direct you to a waiting room until the trial begins. Those chosen for jury service will be sworn in and the Judge will guide you throughout the process. The Court Administrator or Deputy Court Administrator will be available to address any general questions.
Court Rules and Security Information
Everyone entering the Fort Collins Municipal Court for a hearing of any kind will need to enter through the north entrance to the building that faces Maple Street and go through security screening. All electronic equipment (cell phones, pagers, I-pods, tablets, E-readers, etc.) must be turned off prior to entering the courtroom and shall remain off unless allowed by the Judge. Laptops are allowed for attorneys scheduled for hearings. No cameras or recording devices are allowed without prior approval of the Judge.
Important Parking Information: Parking is free only when this procedure is followed.
Please contact the court as instructed on your summons the day prior to the scheduled trial date. Parking is available at the Civic Center Parking structure which is located on the southeast corner of Mason St. and Laporte Ave. When you call or email the court to verify the jury trial (see above), the Court will give you a pre-paid code to use on the morning of the jury trial. You must obtain the code before parking in the structure. When you use your code, enter a 3-hour time block only. You can enter the code through these methods: A mobile app on your cell phone, “Passport Parking”, or mobile website ppprk.com. You may enter the code at one of the payment kiosks on each level of the parking structure immediately after parking your vehicle.
There is very limited parking on the streets surrounding the City of Fort Collin’s Administrative Building at 215 N. Mason St. where the Municipal Court is located, most of which is restricted 2-hour parking only. The building’s small parking lot is also restricted to 2-hour parking. Please call or contact the Court for information regarding handicap parking.
