The City of Fort Collins Art in Public Places Program is honored to present a public art project for the new Police Facility by Chevo Studios of Denver Colorado. For this project, artist Andrew Dufford of Chevo Studios worked with the Police Facility Design Team to establish goals for the artwork. The three goals of the Police Facility Project are; that the art fosters a community connection, that the art will enhance the overall setting and create a sense of beauty and comfort, and that the art is a vital part of the Police Museum and the community functions of the police facility while remaining sensitive to all other program needs and security concerns
The artwork at the new Police Facility consists of four elements:
- The first element is four low relief stone carvings in Pennsylvania bluestone on the main walkway columns. Each image is treated with a separate theme, including justice, community, science, and people.
- The second element is a memorial garden with seating, water elements, and landscaping that is adjacent to the front walkway.
- The third element is an interior water feature inscribed with names of officers who have fallen in the line of duty.
- The final element is a Police Museum located in the Main Lobby. It features a collage of historic police elements including a large etched glass image panel depicting officers throughout history.
