Description

Kristen Vohs' design, Ratified, is a celebration of women's empowerment. 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing and protecting women's constitutional right to vote.
This psychedelic piano combines feminine designs derived from Mehndi and zentangle drawing styles. The busy flowers and shapes that cover the whole piano are a salute to women’s creativity and complexity. A swell of radiant colors swirl around a woman’s face on the front and backsides of the piano. Fearlessly, the women gaze
straight into the viewer’s eyes.
When Kristen chose this color palette, she stayed away from the soft pastels usually associated with women and femininity. She thinks that women are bold, like deep turquoise and magenta. That women are bright, like fiery orange and yellows. The colors she chose are as loud as the women who speak up for themselves, their families and their communities.
