Description

Desiring a water feature as the central part of the garden design, artist Andrew Dufford of Chevo Studios, worked with the project team to create a sculptural element entitled Flow, consisting of a hand-carved stone water table made from a single piece of buff sandstone placed to catch the falling water from a giant watering can. The water feature is activated by the children, pumping water into a reservoir and then allowing the water to flow into a series of "rivers and streams" carved into the top surface of the water table. Children will be able to fill watering cans with the overflow to water plants in the nearby pots and gardens. The Children's Garden not only spotlights the water feature, but also offers many interactive education exhibits where kids can get their hands dirty, plant and maintain gardens, crawl through hideouts and see insects, butterflies and frogs close up.
