Community Bike Park Feasibility Study#
Community advocates have been in support of a community bike park in Fort Collins for more than a decade. The ReCreate: Parks & Rec Master Plan, published in 2021, identified mountain bike courses as a priority investment for residents of Fort Collins. Current small bike park locations in Fort Collins include a 2.0-acre BMX course at Twin Silo Park, a small 0.27-acre pump track at Traverse Park, a small 0.53-acre pump track at Soft Gold, and a 0.7-acre mountain bike skills course at Spring Canyon Park.
In 2024, City Council appropriated funding for a community bike park feasibility study. City staff have recently completed this study with the support of a consultant. The feasibility study evaluated the following:
- Potential bike park locations
- Associated capital and ongoing costs
- Identify park amenities and features
- Benchmark national locations and best practices
Upon completion, the final report was presented to City Council in an Executive Session. The report's findings will remain confidential due to potential impacts on future property acquisitions. In addition to the former Hughes Stadium location, other sites included in the evaluation were deemed feasible at varying degrees.

- Advisory group discussions are ongoing through the creation of the feasibility study. The feedback from this group will be critical in developing the criteria used for the overall feasibility study of sites.
- Final feasibility report shared with City Council in Executive Session. The feasibility report document is confidential due to potential property acquisition impacts. In addition to the former Hughes Stadium location, other sites were included in the evaluation and were also deemed feasible at varying degrees.
