Oak Street Water System Improvement Project Kick off. Full Closure on Oak St and Scott Avenue, Beginning July 9

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Fort Collins Utilities’ Oak Street Water System Improvement Project will begin construction July 9 to replace existing water infrastructure in downtown Fort Collins. This work is being completed ahead of the Oak Street Stormwater Improvements Project. The replacement of aging water mains will enhance system reliability, improve fire flow capacity, and protect water quality.

The project extends along Oak Street from Shields Street to Jackson Avenue, along Jackson Avenue from Oak Street to Mountain Avenue, and along Mountain Avenue from Jackson Avenue to Pearl Street. Construction will begin at the intersection of Oak Street and Shields Street and progress to the west. There will be a full closure on Oak Street and Scott Avenue around the active construction zones. Access for residents will be maintained but may be limited at times. Pedestrian access in the area will be maintained.

Crews will be conducting work between the hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. This portion of the project has an anticipated completion date of October 2025, weather permitting.
