Police Investigate Stabbing

On March 13, 2021 at approximately 12:59 a.m., Fort Collins Police received a 911 call regarding a stabbing at 1220 East Stuart Street. An adult female reported that she had been stabbed and had locked herself in a room to get away from the adult male suspect who was still inside. When officers arrived on scene, the adult female exited the residence and was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Officers were able to see the male suspect inside with injuries that are believed to have been self-inflicted. The male suspect was also transported to an area hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Both the male and female are expected to survive.

Fort Collins Police Detectives responded to the scene and have taken over the investigation. Detectives know that the two involved people are related to each other, and there is no threat to the community in regards to this incident. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led up to this incident. Charges are pending for the male suspect, and the case will be filed with the Larimer County District Attorney's Office at a later time.

"I'm grateful for the quick and professional response of our officer's and medical personnel," said Fort Collins Police Chief Jeff Swoboda. "Our detectives will continue to gather all of the facts surrounding this case and work with our other partners in the criminal justice system to seek justice for the victim."
