On March 11, 2021 at 6:41 a.m., Fort Collins Police Services received a report of a motor vehicle collision in the area of S. College Avenue and E. Elizabeth Street. A UCHealth ambulance was responding to a call for service with lights and sirens activated. It was traveling northbound on College Avenue and went through the red light at Elizabeth Street when it collided with a westbound 2013 Chrysler 200 sedan.

The 67-year-old male driver of the sedan sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The 31-year-old driver and passenger of the ambulance were also treated at area hospitals. The ambulance was not transporting a patient at the time of the collision.

The Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team responded to take over the investigation. Northbound College Avenue was closed in between Garfield Street and Elizabeth Street for approximately 3 hours while investigators processed the scene.

Police are working to determine if speed was a factor in the collision. Anyone who witnessed this collision or with information, who has not already spoken to police, is asked to call Officer Ken Koski at (970) 416-2229.
