The City of Fort Collins Streets Department will launch the Fall Operation Clean Sweep to remove fallen leaves and debris on city streets beginning today, Monday, Nov. 9, and continuing through mid-December.

Sweeping will not happen on Wednesday, Nov.11, due to Veterans Day, and sweeping does not occur over the weekend. Sweeping schedule variances may occur due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Operation Clean Sweep will start in Zone 2 East, followed by Zone 1 and 2 West and then additional zones. A reference map of sweeping zones is included with this press release.

Residents should be aware of when their street is scheduled for sweeping. Residents can sign up for email alerts to be notified when sweepers will be in their area by visiting www.fcgov.com/streets/sweeping.php. The City will also communicate sweeping schedules through Nextdoor.

Residents are asked to move cars and other obstructions from the street and keep tree branches trimmed to 14 feet above the surface of the street (City Code 27-57) so sweepers can clean the streets from curb to curb.

Operation Clean Sweep is an annual effort to clear debris from curb to curb in order to allow winter snow and ice to drain properly. Clogged storm drains may cause localized flooding and standing water will continuously freeze and thaw in winter months, which can damage streets and jeopardize pedestrian and motorist safety.
