As the Northern Colorado Regional Airport’s Master Plan update nears completion, members of the public will play a vital role in its adoption by providing their input on Aug. 6 at a virtual public open house.

The Master Plan will serve as the 20-year blueprint for the future layout and improvement of the airport’s physical facilities and recommended best uses of the undeveloped property that surrounds it.

“The Master Planning process is a community-driven effort that will shape the future of the Airport, which provides the area with many benefits including supporting local jobs and generating significant socioeconomic impacts annually,” Airport Director Jason Licon said.

“It is critical to have public input and support of Airport planning to ensure the continued safe and sustainable operation for the region.”

Previous public open house meetings on the planning project took place in May and September 2019. While the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented live public participation in the final public open house meeting, a virtual open house will convene via Zoom conferencing from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6.

After gathering feedback from the public, airport staff will present the completed plan for adoption by the city councils of both Loveland and Fort Collins later this summer. The airport is jointly owned by the two cities.

The new plan replaces outdated information in the 2007 Master Plan and identifies projects that will support the Airport’s long-term viability and safety while supporting economic development and the Airport’s commitment to service and innovation.

The virtual open house meeting will include a brief presentation to review the Master Plan process and present the findings of the Study. This will be followed with a Q&A session where the consultant team and Airport staff will be available to receive and respond to written questions and comments.

Information on how to join the meeting and presentation materials will be posted on the Airport’s Master Plan webpage at www.flynoco.com/mpu.

The Master Plan Draft Report is available for download on the project page. The public is encouraged to view these materials prior to the virtual open house meeting and submit comments and questions by Wednesday, Aug. 5, on the project website comment page or via email to YWlycG9ydG1hc3RlcnBsYW5AY2l0eW9mbG92ZWxhbmQub3JnP3N1YmplY3Q9TWFzdGVyUGxhbkZlZWRiYWNr.
