Suspect Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Runner
A man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a runner on the Poudre River Trail.
Just before 6:30 p.m. on May 7, 2020, Fort Collins 9-1-1 received a call from the adult female victim who reported that she had just been sexually assaulted by an unknown man. The suspect returned and assaulted the woman again while she was on the phone with Dispatchers. He then fled the area on a bicycle. The incident occurred on the Poudre River Trail near the 600 block of South Lemay Avenue.
Responding officers immediately searched the area and located a bicyclist matching the suspect description in the 400 block of North Timberline Road. Following an investigation, the man, identified as Samuel Torres-Martinez (DOB 02/03/2001), was arrested for Sexual Assault (class 3 felony) and booked into the Larimer County Jail. “Nobody deserves to be assaulted,” said Criminal Investigation Division Lt. Adam McCambridge. “Thanks to the detailed description the victim provided, officers were able to quickly locate and arrest the suspect so he can be held accountable for his actions."
