Utility Upgrades in Remington Street Begin this Month
An undersized stormwater system and aging sanitary sewer mains will be replaced in Remington Street from Spring Creek Drive to Prospect Road from February to July. Preliminary on-site work will begin the week of February 17 with construction starting February 24, weather permitting.
Construction will begin in the 1800 block of Remington Street and continue north. The road will be closed to vehicle traffic and parking along each block during active construction. The intersections of Remington and Prospect and Remington and Spring Park will remain open to east- and west-bound traffic.
Existing storm drainage pipe will be replaced along three blocks of Remington with large diameter storm pipe and new inlets will be installed at the Stuart and Parker streets intersections. The sanitary sewer main will be replaced in the 1600 and 1800 blocks of Remington, and an additional sanitary sewer main will be installed on the east side of the 1800 block of Remington.
This project will improve wastewater operations and drainage and flood protection in the neighborhood. A larger capacity stormwater connection from the Prospect/College intersection to Spring Creek also will reduce flooding issues at this major intersection.
During the first few months of construction, bikes will be detoured around the site. A bike lane may be provided along one side of the road during spring and summer months. The safest routes will be determined prior to construction.
