Electric vehicle drivers, EV enthusiasts and intrigued local and regional residents are invited to attend the Fort Collins Electric Vehicle Ride and Drive Event on Sunday, September 15 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Civic Center Park (Laporte Ave) as part of National Drive Electric Week.
This event will feature information on the new EV group-buy discounts, an opportunity to test drive a variety of electric vehicles from local car dealerships, and information highlighting clean-air benefits, cost-savings and local, regional and state electric vehicle initiatives. Lightning Systems will be present to discuss their EV fleet conversions. Local food trucks will be on site during the event.
“A switch to electric vehicles frees Coloradoans from the gas pump and reduces air pollution, with the added benefit of being more cost-effective to operate and maintain, plus, these cars are incredibly fun to drive.” said Joel Danforth, Chair of the Northern Colorado EV Enthusiasts. “The Fort Collins Drive Electric Week event is a great opportunity to show our community the benefits of electric cars.”
Fort Collins’ event is one of hundreds across the country where electric vehicle owners, car dealerships and government and community leaders are holding electric car rallies, “tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, test drives and other public events. The City of Fort Collins’ FC Moves Department, Drive Electric Northern Colorado, and Northern Colorado Clean Cities teamed up with National Drive Electric Week national organizers, Plug In America and the Electric Auto Association to put on the event.
