At 8:45 a.m. on August 28, 2018, Fort Collins 911 received a call regarding a crash involving a bicyclist and a school bus. The collision occurred in the 3000 block of Meadowlark Avenue on the roadway outside of Beattie Elementary School.

Officers determined that Anna Price, 26, was riding her bicycle northbound on Meadowlark Avenue in the bike lane. A Poudre School District bus driven by Marlon Poole, 71, was also traveling north on Meadowlark Avenue and was turning right into the school parking lot when the collision occurred. The bicycle collided with the rear passenger side of the bus. The cyclist was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries. No students were injured during the incident.

The Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team responded to investigate. The roadway remained open while they processed the scene. Students were present on the bus when the collision occurred, and school administrators and counselors provided support for anyone who may have witnessed the incident. Speed, drugs, or alcohol are not suspected.

“Our officers are working to determine exactly what happened," said FCPS Chief Jeff Swoboda. "In the meantime, we strongly encourage everyone traveling near school zones to always remain alert and create a safe environment for all.”

Anyone with information about this incident, who has not already spoken to police, is asked to contact Officer Ken Koski at 970-416-2229.
