FCPS Launches "Patio Patrol" Security Registry Program

To create a safer city and solve cases more quickly, Fort Collins Police Services is launching a new community partnership called “Patio Patrol.”

The Patio Patrol program will allow residents to register their external home security systems in a secure database accessible only to police. Once information has been submitted, registrants will get an email asking them to confirm their participation. If a crime occurs, officers may contact area residents to request an opportunity to review any security video that may help with the investigation.

Patio Patrol was developed to increase officer efficiency when conducting neighborhood canvasses. This voluntary program is free, and police will never have access to private video unless the owner provides it. Participants may decline access or remove their information at any time.

“Fort Collins is truly one of the most collaborative, engaged communities around,” said FCPS Chief Jeff Swoboda. “Patio Patrol is just one more tool to help us become the safest city in the country together.”
