The City of Fort Collins has joined with ACCION Colorado - the largest non-profit, small business lending network in the nation - to bring ACCION to Fort Collins this summer to assist small businesses that may not meet traditional lending requirements.
ACCION’s Denver-based bilingualstaff specialize in lending to start-ups, low-to-moderate entrepreneurs and other potentially disadvantaged borrowers who may not “fit in the box” for conventional small business lenders.
ACCION has partnered with the City and FVC MESH to provide in-person lending services from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates at FVC MESH, 242 Linden St.:
-June 7 and 21
-July 5 and 19
-August 2 and 16
As a way to introduce themselves to the Fort Collins market, for the month of May, ACCION will offer six months no-interest on new business loans under $100,000.
“ACCION can often fill market gaps that other lenders simply can’t, and the organization enjoys the highest possible rating from Charity Navigator, with a 96 out of 100 ranking for accountability and transparency,” said Gwen Bonilla, ACCION Market Manager.
The City views ACCION as a way to support small businesses, said Sean Carpenter, the City’s Climate Economy Advisor. “We’re here to assist small businesses with finding the resources they need to be successful and to thrive in Fort Collins,” Carpenter said.
ACCION’s non-profit mission is to help entrepreneurs and their businesses succeed and eventually graduate to traditional bank lending or other high-quality financing resources such as the Colorado Enterprise Fund and Fort Collins-area banks.
