Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) is posting information regarding the release of one Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) into the community. The information is being publicly distributed pursuant to Colorado Revised Statutes 16-13-901 through 16-13-905 to specifically provide notification of the offender and to generally enhance public safety and protection.

Due to the mature content of the information that will be presented, it is not advisable to allow children to view the notification. It is strongly encouraged that the appropriate SVP information and public safety information be reviewed with children after the notification. Please click on the PowerPoint link provided here to receive information regarding Sexually Violent Predators and information about the listed SVP.

The individual involved in this notification was recently released from the Department of Corrections and moved to Fort Collins jurisdiction.

FCPS has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may live. Unless court restrictions exist, they are constitutionally free to live wherever they choose. Law enforcement may share sex offender information with the community because on the Jacob Wetterling Act of 1994, and in the case of SVPs, law enforcement must actively notify citizens.

The status and locations of SVPs are posted on the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s website at http://cbi.state.co.us and SOTAR (Sexual Offender Tracking and Registration) at http://www.sotar.us. Anyone who uses this information to harass, threaten or intimidate a registered sex offender (online or in-person), his/her family, or anyone involved in his/her management will be subject to criminal prosecution. Additional inquiries can be directed to FCPS Registrar, Nicole Ortiz, at (970) 221-6569.
