Police Investigate Serious Single Vehicle Crash

Released on Tuesday, July 29, 2025

On July 28, 2025, at approximately 10:57 pm, Fort Collins Police were notified of a serious, single vehicle collision in the 2200 block of South Overland Trail. When police arrived on scene they located the vehicle involved, a 2019 Genesis G70, off the east side of the road and it had collided with a tree. There were 5 occupants inside the vehicle, four of which had life-threatening or serious injuries. Several of the occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle before being transported to area hospitals for treatment.

Due to the severity of the collision, the Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team responded to take over the investigation. To this point, the investigation has revealed that the Genesis was southbound on South Overland Trail and had made a U-turn at County Road 42C to head back northbound on South Overland Trail. The vehicle began to go northbound before going off the roadway and colliding with a tree.

South Overland Trail was shut down in between County Road 42C and West Stuart Street while investigators processed the scene. Police are investigating if speed and/or impairment played a role in the crash. “Our team of investigators are working to provide answers to the families of those who had loved ones involved in this crash tonight,” said Sergeant David Lindsay who oversees the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team.

Anyone with information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Fort Collins Police Officer Philip Morris at (970) 221 6540.
