Transfort, the transit agency owned by the City of Fort Collins, will resume Friday and Saturday evening MAX service beginning Friday, Sept. 29.

MAX will operate during the following times:

Monday through Thursday – service every 20 minutes:

  • First northbound departure from STC at 5:33 a.m., first southbound departure from DTC at 5:20 a.m.
  • Last northbound departure from STC at 7:33 p.m., last southbound departure from DTC at 8 p.m.

Friday and Saturday – service every 20 minutes:

  • First northbound departure from STC at 5:33 a.m., first southbound departure from DTC at 5:20 a.m.
  • Last northbound departure from STC at 9:33 p.m., last southbound departure from DTC at 10 p.m.

MAX is the City’s Bus Rapid Transit service and operates along the Mason Corridor from the Downtown Transit Center (DTC) at Mason Street and Laporte Avenue to the South Transit Center (STC) south of Harmony Road. MAX stops serve Downtown Fort Collins, Colorado State University, and Midtown Fort Collins.

“We understand that MAX provides a critical service for the community as residents access businesses and the CSU campus along this corridor,” said Kaley Zeisel, Interim Transfort Director. “Since the pandemic, we have struggled to recruit and retain bus operators. We resumed Route 19 service in January and resumed holiday service in May, and today, our staffing levels have improved slightly, allowing us to resume some evening service on MAX. However, we are still at 80 percent of our operator staff level, which is not enough for us to return to full service. We are committed to increasing frequency and evening service on other routes as soon as we are able.”

Passengers are encouraged to stay up to date with service changes by subscribing to receive real-time email or text alerts for the routes they choose at ridetransfort.com/subscribe.

All Transfort service continues to be fare-free under an emergency order signed in March 2020. Transfort is also in the final stages of a study that will help determine if Transfort service can remain fare-free permanently.
