FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Utilities Stormwater crews have completed the second phase of the Stover & Stuart Project. A new stormwater main was installed in East Stuart Street, this upsizes the infrastructure to a 30-inch diameter pipe, the previous pipe was 10-inches. This significantly increases flow capacity and will enhance flood protection for the area. This phase of the project also included the installation of three new manholes and one upsized inlet.

Phase three will require a full closure of the 1800 block of Stover Street at the intersection of East Stuart Street. Crews will install new upsized stormwater infrastructure that increases capacity, including a new 25-foot inlets that will be one of the longest inlet installed to date. It will help minimize recurring street flooding in the intersection. East Stuart Street will reopen for both east and westbound two-lane traffic on Jan. 17, weather permitting.

Approximate dates and locations for construction phases:

Phase 1 – Complete

Phase 2 – Complete

Phase 3 – East Stuart Street opens for two-lane traffic east and westbound on Jan. 17. Stover Street will be closed at the intersection of East Stuart Street until Feb. 1, weather permitting.

Roads and intersections are closed for safety and to complete work as efficiently as possible. The Stover Street bike path (heading north) currently has a rough patch but is open. Safety for residents, bike riders, commuters, pedestrians and work crews is a top priority. Barricades and fences will continue to be used to clearly mark areas of excavation at nights and on weekends. Detour routes will be provided as needed. Please keep children and pets away from construction zones and do not move road closure signage.
