Fort Collins Police detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred on Friday morning.
At 11:05 a.m. on December 23, 2022, FC911 received multiple reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of College Avenue. Police have determined that the adult male victim left a motel room located at 1220 North College Avenue. He was followed by a person who was also associated with the room. When they reached the 100 block of Conifer Street, the suspect shot him and ran away on foot. The victim ran into a nearby store where employees provided first aid until first responders arrived. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment and has since been released.
The investigation has revealed that all of the involved individuals knew each other. Officers went to the associated hotel room and contacted multiple people inside, including Amanda “Ozzy” Herrick, 35, who was identified as a person of interest. Herrick was arrested on existing warrants, and detectives are working to understand how she and other individuals in the room may be connected to the incident. Police are working to identify the shooting suspect, who was described as a man wearing all black clothing.
“We’re extremely glad the victim was able to get help quickly and appreciative of those who rendered aid,” said Deputy Chief Greg Yeager. “Our detectives are working diligently to gather facts so those involved may be held accountable.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information about the suspect is asked to contact Detective Dustin Wier at 970-221-6895. People who wish to remain anonymous can also contact Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868 or www.stopcriminals.org.
All charges are simply an accusation by law enforcement, and all parties must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
