Police Investigate Fatal Single Vehicle Collision

Released on Saturday, August 6, 2022

On August 6, 2022 at approximately 1:43 PM, Fort Collins Police were notified of a single vehicle collision in the 400 block of East Prospect Road. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 1995 Ford F150 in the yard area of a residence. The vehicle was occupied only by the driver, an adult male, and life-saving efforts were performed on him. The adult male was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Due to this collision being a fatality, the Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team responded to further investigate the collision. The investigation so far has revealed that the F150 was travelling eastbound along Prospect Road when it crossed into on-coming traffic and collided with a parked vehicle in the driveway of a residence there. The F150 then continued on and struck a different residence’s fence before coming to rest.

Police are investigating if the driver suffered a medical event and/or what other factors led up to the collision. Anyone with information who has not already spoken to police are asked to call Officer David Kaes at (970) 416 2229.
