Homicide suspect formally charged as adult

The juvenile suspect in the Mason Street homicide has been formally charged as an adult. As the adult filing has been accepted into the Larimer County Court, his name is now eligible for public release.
Benjamin Zwahlen, 16, was arrested on August 17, 2021 for First Degree Murder (class 1 felony) of Todd Stout, who was killed on July 5. Zwahlen has been formally charged in Larimer County as an adult. He remains in juvenile detention while he awaits criminal prosecution.
Detectives are continuing to investigate this incident and Zwahlen’s activities on the days surrounding July 5, 2021. A driver's license photo is attached. All charges are simply an accusation by law enforcement officers, and all parties must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
