Suspect arrested for sexual assaults
A Fort Collins man has been arrested for two counts of sexual assault.
In July 2019, Fort Collins Police detectives were notified of a sexual assault. The adult female victim reported that a male acquaintance, Daniel Warro, had sexually assaulted her while she was incapacitated.
In August 2020, police received additional information that implicated Warro in this incident, as well as a previously reported assault. In the second incident, the female victim had reported a similar series of events, including being sexually assaulted by Warro while she was incapacitated. These incidents were unrelated and the victims did not know each other.
"Sexual assault is a traumatic crime with lasting impacts," said Sgt. Heather Moore, who leads the Crimes Against Persons Unit. "Our detectives and advocates are here to help survivors find justice, navigate the legal process, and begin the journey of emotional recovery."
Warro, 39, was arrested on September 1, 2020 for two counts of Sexual Assault (class 3 felony and class 4 felony). A booking photo is attached courtesy of the Larimer County Sheriff's Office. Based on the similar pattern of these incidents, detectives are concerned that additional victims may exist. Anyone with information about these or other incidents is asked to contact Detective Julia Chenoweth at 970-416-2645. People may also contact Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868 or www.stopcriminals.org.
All charges are simply an accusation by law enforcement officers, and any arrested party must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
