One man was injured in a Thursday afternoon collision involving a motorcycle and sedan.

At 12:26 p.m. on August 29, 2019, Fort Collins 911 received reports of a collision at S. Shields Street and Hill Pond Road. Officers determined that a 2014 red Honda Grom motorcycle driven by Jonathan Jackman, 37, was traveling north on S. Shields Street when it collided with a 2003 red Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Kyran Rausch, 25. The Grand Prix was turning onto S. Shields Street from Hill Pond Road when the crash occurred. Jackman was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Rausch was not injured.

The Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team responded to investigate. South Shields Street was closed between Rolland Moore Drive and Spring Creek Lane for approximately 3.5 hours while investigators processed the scene. Officers are still working to determine what factors may have contributed to the collision.

“We’ve seen too many serious injury crashes in the last several weeks,” said Assistant Chief Tim Doran, who leads the Special Operations Division, which includes the Traffic Unit. “We need our community's help to ensure safe roadways. If you travel in Fort Collins, please make a personal commitment to safety and encourage your family and friends to do so as well.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision, who has not already spoken to police, is asked to contact Officer Ken Koski at 970-416-2229.
